Common questions

How do I check in?

Press the big button on the dashboard. Opening the app, or tapping a reminder, also checks you in.

What happens if I miss a check-in?

You'll get a reminder at your check-in time. If you still don't check in, TouchBase sends a text to your emergency contacts so someone knows to check on you.

Why does it say "App checked you in"?

Opening TouchBase counts as checking in, so you're covered even if you forget to press the button. Pressing it turns the button green until your next check-in time.

Do my contacts need the app?

No. They receive an ordinary text message. After you add a contact, the app can open a message for you to send them, explaining what TouchBase is and what to do if they get an alert.

Does TouchBase track my location?

No. TouchBase has no map and doesn't use GPS. See our privacy policy.

I'm not getting reminders

Check that notifications are allowed for TouchBase in your phone's settings, then open the app once so it can register your phone again. Battery-saving modes can also delay notifications.

Deleting your account

To delete your TouchBase account and its data, email support@thesoftwaretub.co.uk from the email address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. Using that address lets us confirm the request is yours. We'll delete your account within 30 days and email you when it's done.

What gets deleted

• Your account details: name, email address and password.
• Your emergency contacts and their phone numbers.
• Your check-in time and your check-in history.
• Records of the reminders and alerts sent for you.

Reminders and alert texts stop as soon as your account is deleted.

What may be kept for a while

• Server logs, which are deleted automatically, normally within 90 days.
• Records of texts already sent, which our text provider, Twilio, keeps under its own retention rules.

Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Please ask us as above.

Deleting some data but keeping your account

You can delete an emergency contact, or remove your check-in time, at any time in the app. To ask us to delete any other information while keeping your account, email support@thesoftwaretub.co.uk from the email address you signed up with, saying what you'd like deleted. We'll do it within 30 days.
